so this is going to be short and sweet but i have a few random things to say
* i TRULY enjoy watching people in madison attempt to hail a cab. it just isn't done that way here. It's especially funny at bar time.
* my BFF (omg am i using that term? really?) is back in town and i am sooo glad. i needed this to re boost my social life.
* i have concluded there are two main reasons i havent been blogging. 1. i havent been going out as much lately so i dont have quite as much inspiration and 2. i have actually begun being able to work things out in my head. I think of what i want to write and then kinda work what the blog would look like out in my blog and then by the time i get around to having time to write about it i have worked through it and dont have the desire. i think that's kind of good. right??
* people in Madison really dont dress well.
goodnight folks.

when doves cry
I love how it works that when i go days weeks months without blogging i gain more followers :o) welcome.
So there is what we think is a dove somewhere around our house... or at least something that is making sounds like a dove. Are there doves in Madison Wisconsin? If there are that is really awesome and cool but i wish it would find someone else's window to make noises in front of. I would actually really appreciate it.
Also in the name of sleep why the HELL did my parents install a motion sensor light RIGHT outside my bedroom? To scare the rabbits away from the garden... that's why. Moms wants me to cut down on the usage of the AC this summer... with that motion sensor light RIGHT OUTSIDE MY BEDROOM... that is going to less than likely.
that's all i have for you.
oh yeah and why isnt there anything on tv tonight worth watching? well except operation repo... i think that's on tonight... we are in commercial break on that station right now and i'm too lazy to go check tv guide.com before hitting "publish" on this.

we dont tip strippers no more we give them scholarships
So if you havent already figured it out i spend much of my time in a bar. Not just any bar but my second home. I know a lot of you are in big cities and you go to the "club" but here in Madison WI we dont much have a "club" so we go to the "bar."
The bar i frequent is a dive bar... not anywhere you would ever think that you would actually find me. Somewhere dirty and scuzzy and filled with sketchy characters that over the last 3 years (OMG i can't believe it's been that long that i have kicked it there) have become some of my best friends. I am not talking "bar buddies" i am saying close friends. There are more than a few bar buddies but there are also some people that I truly am grateful i now have in my life.
my bar it is in the middle of campus and has historically been a student bar butlately also brings in a not so money making crowd. So due to this crowd being there there have been less and less students and it has become more and more of a "dive" bar. Recently some students decided they were going to "take back the bar" they have created a facebook group and are really actually doing a good job of bringing in the crowd.
So the other night I got to thinking about "bar rules" and more importantly "tipping rules" and then someone brought up the recession and it made me think I should outline my policy for tipping at the bar (yes i know that was a LONG ASS lead up to the "point" of this post).
In the current economy it's even more important now than ever that you remember your service industry friends when you take advantage of their services. This means anyone that historically people tip, your pizza driver, your waitress, your hairstylist, and of course your bartender.
While reading please keep in mind my and most peoples standard tip is $1
If you go to a bar and order a drink, you need to tip the bartender. Even if your drink is non-alcoholic. A lot of people dispute that and say "but they didnt have to do any work to make my drink" WRONG! no it doesnt take a lot of "work" to make your drink, but they did do work and on top of that - if they werent serving you the glass of water/soda that isnt going to make the bar any money - they could be serving someone else who WILL make the bar money and WILL tip them. Think about that.
Also if you order a huge long list of drinks at the same time $1 isnt enough. If you order i would say 5 or more drinks at the same time (especially if they are mixed drinks) you need to show the bartender some love. You have to realize that they make their money off of what you give them. They don't pay rent off of their paycheck they pay rent off their tips. Also it's just courtesy to show them you appreciate that they are spending their night with you.
Another common issue I see in the bar world is people getting upset that they saw someone else get a deal on their drink and they didnt get one. "i have ordered 6 times tonight but you arent going to give me a deal?" wel no sir, you haven't tipped me once, i dont care how many times you order i am not going to give you a deal. DUH.
As far as tipping delivery drivers, i dont much have a standard there i just say tip them and tip them well. My brother who delivers pizza and works 40 hours a week takes home less than $90 on his paycheck every two weeks so the $1 you tip him for your $25 order doesnt really help out that much. Again show the pizza delivery man that you appreciate him making up for your laziness and bringing your junk food to you.
When it comes to other areas of tipping I dont have very much information to give you other than just make sure you tip them.
So that's what i have. I guess it boils down just make sure you tip your service industry friends. If you don't tip them, dont be surprised when your favorite bartender at your favorite bar is no longer there and is replaced with some jerk that doesnt know your drink and doesnt make it perfect.
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

my favorite view is from my front porch looking in
thats not an mp it's a yp. your problem
you might think you know everything there is to know about me, but you don't. you dont know my family history, you dont know my history, you don't know everything about me.
so regardless of what you think about how much of a spoiled brat i am i dont care. my response to you is i am blessed. i am blessed to have a family that loves me. i am blessed to have family that has the means to help me. i am blessed to have a family that is willing to help me. i am blessed to have my family.
if you have a problem with the way i live my life, if you have a problem with the fact i stay with my parents, or with the fact that my mom helps me with my bills, or anything else that you have a problem with relating to my being spoiled, or me in general.... that's your problem, not mine.
